Welcome to the website
of HAL's Voice!
Bonn's biggest newspaper 'General-Anzeiger' published an article about us today (German only)! We're proud and very excited. :) Read Here
After four years of recording, producing and mixing, we're finally able to say: HAL's Voice - The Upcycling is OUT NOW! The CD is now available on Amazon.de. Stock is limited currently, so grab it while it's available. There are of course more CDs existing, but you might have to wait a couple of days when the initial stock is gone. We hope you'll enjoy it!
It‘s done, we finally made it! The CD is being pressed and will be delivered to us on Sept. 1st 2016, according to the manufacturer. The album will also be available on Amazon.de around the same timeframe. We‘ll post the link as soon as possible.
Thank you so much, to everyone who supported us the whole time! We‘re very happy to be finally able, to release the record. There were many setback, delays, but also a lot of fantastic moments and the possibility, to work with great artists, so it feels amazing, to be finally finished.
We've uploaded a preview of the album, with snippets of all the songs in their final stadium, except the interludes and a bonus track, which will only be available on the actual CD. ;) We will keep you posted about when you can acquire the complete, uncut disc!
We‘re heading to the finish line! The studio is done with mixing and mastering. The High Tide Studios did a fantastic job. There are some details left to be clarified and things to be done, mostly regarding the pressing of the CD and stuff like the booklet design, but the music side of things is finished. Since the crowdfunding didn‘t work out as we hoped, the pressing will be delayed a bit. We‘re targeting July 2016 for the release window and hope, that you‘ll finally be able to get your hands on the album then.
Unfortunately we have to announce, that the new album 'The Upcycling' will release in 2016. Friedhelm and everyone else involved tried their best, but couldn't stop the delay. The work with the High Tide Studios is in full swing though, which will guarantee a fantastic sound! So please be patient.
HAL's Voice now also has a gofundme page, on which you can support the project financially! Please take a look, we need your help:
It's done! The previously announced Roundabout Pt. 2 came freshly out of the studio today and you can listen to it in full length. Besides the obligatory drums of Friedhelm Nieske and the from Maurice Nieske programmed synthesizers, Andreas Grigull (acoustic guitars), Christoph Herder (Bass) and Lars Schurse (electric guitars) lent their musical talent this time.
Lars Schurse, who plugged the strings for the first time for HAL's Voice, is mainly known for his work in the Country music genre, in which he's one of the best here in Germany. For more informations on him and his career, pay him a visit on larsschurse.com.
Friedhelm Nieske is excited to work with these excellent musicians!
Especially on this song, which he dedicates to a good friend, who couldn't laugh as heartly as in the past, because of a severe illness. Fortunately she came through and maybe she can soon be heard again, just like the woman on the track.
After some time, there's something new to report. Friedhelm Nieske was very busy as a guest drummer for a CD production of a different project, so the work on 'The Upcycling' got a bit held up, but in the last couple of weeks, there was a lot of diligent work going on, namely on Part II of Roundabout! The plan is, to bring the tracks to the studio on Monday June 6th, 2015, where they'll be mixed by Mani Z. and Friedhelm Nieske. We'll tell you the complete lineup once the song's finished, you can be excited!
New year, new material! The releasedate of the new album is coming closer, but we want to offer you more stuff to listen to until then. „Roundabout Pt. 1“ is a new song we want to present you fresh from the studio. Originally written in the 1970's, Friedhelm Nieske revitalized the song together wirh other musicians. Keyboards and synths were programmed by Maurice Nieske, the bass was played by Andreas Grigull. The rhythm guitars were done by Frank Loer and Michael Meranke played the solo parts. You'll hear in the future why it's called „Pt. 1“! All involved are happy to present it to you and hope for many clicks and comments.
After we published the cover art and title of the upcoming album yesterday,
you can also hear something today! Together with the professional musicians Michael Meranke (guitars) and Christoph Herder (bass), Friedhelm Nieske re-recorded the song FNLB0207. All instruments were newly recorded and the keyboards fully replaced with guitars. Theres a completely new and more dramatic atmosphere because of that, which gets conveyed perfectly, thanks to the mix from Mani Zmarsly of the Hansahaus-Studios Bonn.
Listen and compare both versions for yourself in our playlist (the new one is on top, the old one at the bottom)! Have fun and share your opinions about the new work in the comments, your posts are crucial for the project!
The CD finally has a name! It'll be called "The Upcycling" and will be available in 2015. A sneak peek of the cover, with the focus on a work from Johanna Siegberg-Kinast, can be found on the official facebook page!
The time has come! A new song is online and you can listen to it in full length!
In „A Fact“ you can hear Tom Delay (vocals), Frank Loer (guitars), Andreas Grigull (bass) and Friedhelm Nieske (drums). The keyboards were programmed by Maurice Nieske. Enjoy it and as always, everyone involved would be happy about clicks, comments and encouragement (HAL's Voice facebook)!
HAL's Voice is very excited to be able to announce, that the English based bass player and multitalent Will Hughes from Alzir (and currently helping out on the tour of Godsized),
assured his support for the project. Friedhelm Nieske is already very curious about working together
with another international known artist.
If you're interested in what Will is doing currently, you can pay Alzir a visit.
We have new material online!
This time, it's a slightly more special song, an older work from Erik Satie,
which is dedicated to Johanna Siegberg-Kinast, an in Bonn living artist and good friend of Friedhelm Nieske. She will also provide her artistic talent for the cover of the next CD.
The song was arranged and orchestrated by Maurice Nieske.
The guitars were played by the fantastic Nick May and not just Friedhelm Nieske is absolutely excited by his work.
The recording is not yet mastered and the sound might still slightly change in the future.
Exciting news to report!
HAL’s Voice (Friedhelm Nieske) is proud, to welcome aboard some more notable artists, national and international! In addition to Matin Wasiri, Andreas Grigull, Frank Loer, Mani Zmarsly, Maurice Nieske and Reiner Löffel, who are all already featured in the current recordings, guitarists Nick May and Tom Delay, as well as drummer David Speight, are now also part of the project!
Nick May is a guitarist, coming from England and head of the orchestral Rock-Fusion project Whimwise. He’s a huge gain for HAL’s Voice, thanks to his longtime experience, working together with different artists of all kind (not just with Whimwise, but also other, worldwide known projects) and his unique guitar play style.
David Speight is a drummer, coming from England, who already worked together with Nick May, in his mentioned project Whimwise. But he has proven his drumming talent elsewhere too. He played with several musicians and bands, including the Hungarian/Romanian Prog-Rock formation Yesterdays and the, unfortunately meanwhile deceased, ex-Yes guitarist Peter Banks.
For further information regarding Nick May, you can visit the homepage from Whimwise: whimwise.com
Background information on David Speight and his past, can be looked up on: davidspeight.weebly.com
It’s a great honour to work with these people.
Friedhelm Nieske is very excited, that the lineup of HAL’s Voice is becoming more and more top-class and cannot wait to present you new material.
Friedhelm Nieske also wants to thank Hans-Günter “Bo” Boddin, who made the contact to Nick May and David Speight possible in the first place!
As you can see, the work on the new album is in full swing.
Friedhelm Nieske uploaded a new snippet from the intro, which will be the CD’s opener.
It’s provided for you in the Media section! The complete intro will be available on the finished album, just wait and see! By the way, the bass was played by Reiner Löffel and Maurice Nieske programmed the synths. Drums and percussion, as always, by Friedhelm Nieske. Everyone involved, would appreciate feedback!
The first song „From The Other Planet“, from the upcoming album, is finished and you can listen to it, in full length, here on this very site!
The vocals were provided by Matin Wasiri, who’s, among other projects, especially known in the German Hip-Hop scene, with his alias "Angry Teng". The bass was played by Dr. Andreas Grigull ("Shine" and others) and the guitar tracks were done by Frank Loer. The intro-synthesizers were contributed by Maurice Nieske. The song was mixed at the Hansahaus Studios Bonn, by Mani Zmarsly, who also played the additional keyboards. Friedhelm Nieske, who of course plays the drums, is really excited to work together with these and many other people.
The studio is finished by now and the work on the next CD is in full swing!
You can get a foretaste of it in the media section in advance.
It is a part of a pre-mix of the first song and not finished, but it gives a good first impression of what you can expect.
Participating musicians and further information will follow later.
Enjoy listening to it!
Every news around the Progressive Rock project from the drummer Friedhelm Nieske will be posted here in the future.
In addition to the new site, there's also a new recording studio in the making, so that the next CD, which is already in the works, will sound even more dynamic and better, than the current album "Monolith".
